Former teacher dies at Manor this morning

Mrs. Carrie D. Elwood, a patient at Oak Park Manor in Nevada, died Monday morning at the home at the age of 96.

Born February 4, 1872, in Marengo, Ill., she was the daughter of Lewis and Helen Dayton.

A former school teacher, she lived in Nevada nearly her entire life. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the D. A. R.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ivadel Scarborough; four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, two children, and her husband, Samuel R. Elwood.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Ryan Funeral Home.
