Daniel “Dan” H. Olinger, 59, of Ames, Iowa, died Friday, November 29, 2013 at the Story County Medical Center in Nevada, Iowa.

Dan was born October 22, 1954 in Nevada, Iowa, the son of Wayne and Helen (Inglis) Olinger. He graduated from the Nevada High School in 1973. Dan was a self-employed Appliance Repairman in Ames. He loved serving people through his business. He was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. Dan loved his children and grandchildren and taking them to Brookside Park. He loved Guys Night on Thursdays, family gatherings and the mountains.

Dan is survived by a son: Bill Olinger of Loveland, Colorado; a daughter: Amy Lang of Loveland, Colorado; 6 grandchildren:6 grandchildren: Krystina Clark, Alexsus Clark, Danielle Lang, Makayla Olinger, Leeah Olinger, Cameron Mitchell; two brothers: Dave (Sue) Olinger of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Dean (Cindy) Olinger of Ames, Iowa; and four sisters: DeLories Carsrud of Nevada, Iowa, Mary (Ron) Pauley of La Grange, Georgia, Janice (Jim) Cook of Zearing, Iowa and Harriet Flick of San Pedro, California.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter: Allison Black; a brother-in-law: Alton Carsrud; and a nephew, Wade Pauley.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday at the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.

Burial will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Hand Bell Choir at Memorial Lutheran Church and to Story County Medical Center.
