Obituary From Boeke Funeral Homes, Hardin County, Iowa.

Verna Webber, age 110, of Ames, IA, died on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Verna Knutson was born February 27, 1903 on the family farm southwest of Radcliffe, Iowa. She was the youngest of eight children born to Severt and Julia (Olson) Knutson.

Her parents were determined that their children should be well educated. They made many sacrifices to assist all of their children to receive degrees beyond the country school diploma. She received her education from the Radcliffe Public School. Verna furthered her education and graduated from Waldorf Lutheran College and began working at the Iowa Highway Commission in Ames, Iowa.

On December 5, 1925, Verna married Henry A. Webber who taught in the Chemical Engineering Department of Iowa State College in Ames. Verna worked as an engineering secretary at the Iowa State College, now Iowa State University. They had three children: Marjorie, Richard, and Donald whom all graduated from Iowa State College.

Verna lived a long and happy life, becoming the oldest resident in the state of Iowa. Verna resided at the Riverside Manor in Ames for many, many years. She passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Those remaining to cherish her memory include all three of her children, Richard of Ames, Donald of Houston, Texas and Marjorie, who also resided at the Riverside Manor in Ames, along with several nieces and nephews and their families.

Verna was widowed for 48 years as she lost her beloved husband, Henry, in 1965. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Elsie “Nettie”, Clarence “B. C.”, Josie, Jacob, Knute, Otto and Gerhard.

Visitation:
Friends may call at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames, one hour prior to the funeral service, Saturday, December 14.

Service:
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 10:30 am at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames.

Cemetery:
Verna will be buried at the Ames Municipal Cemetery in Ames, IA.
