ALFRED BOYD

Funeral services for Alfred Ludvig Boyd, 75, 731 Fifth St. were held from Adams Funeral Home Feb. 27 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Olaf Holen officiating. Burial was in the Roland Cemetery.

Pallbearers included nephews of Mr. Boyd, John Michaelson, Sr., Earl Hamersland, Knute Hamersland, Boyd Michaelson, Kent Boyd and Emery Eggland.

Born Oct. 1, 1885 the son of Mr. and Mrs. K. P. Boyd of Roland, he was baptized Oct. 18, 1885 at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland by the Rev. C. C. Holter. He was confirmed at the church on Oct. 21, 1900 by the Rev. J. N. Sandvin.

Mr. Boyd grew to manhood on the family homestead southwest of Roland and attended St. Olaf College at Northfield, Minn. He owned and operated a farm near Roland after returning from college.

A former employee of the Atomic Energy Commmission at Iowa State University, he spent his retirement restoring antique funiture.

Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his father and mother, four sister, Mrs. Sara Michaelson, Mrs. Anna Hamersland, Mrs. Isabelle Eggland and Emma Boyd and by three brothers, Peter Boyd, Arthur Boyd and Mayer Boyd.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Carrie B. Harnden, State College, Pa.; Mrs. Kathryn Boyd Larson, 731 Fifth St., Ames, and a brother, Henry of Ames.
