Eula Maude Novinger, 98, passed away November 11, 2013 in Ames, Iowa. Maude was born September 25, 1915 in Gibbs, Missouri to Wes and Ida Pence. She grew up in northeast Missouri and worked in Kirksville before her marriage to Frank Novinger on July 29, 1937. Maude and Frank farmed in the area of Lucerne, Missouri until 1947 when they moved to Collins, Iowa with their two young children. They had two more children in Iowa where they farmed and raised cattle. Maude was a busy homemaker and gardener who enjoyed sewing and doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She and Frank were avid travelers, often visiting friends and family around the states and touring in Europe and Central America. Her family will relish memories of her sense of adventure, love for children, fabulous cooking and baking, and gentle nature. Maude spent her final years at Green Hills Care Center in Ames, IA. Her family would like to thank the staff there for the care they provided to Maude as a resident and the compassion extended to the family at the time of her illness and passing.
Maude was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Frank, an infant son, an infant sister Ruby, her brother Joe Pence, sister Era Cloud, brothers-in-law Earl Cloud and Roy Burchett and her parents. She is survived by two sons Glen (Tracy) Novinger of Austin, TX and Jim (Sharon) Novinger of Collins, IA, two daughters Kay (Kip) Henderson of Centennial, CO, and Jo Anne Novinger of Cedar Falls, IA, ten grandchildren and great-grandchildren are Curtis (Melani) Novinger of Austin, TX (Madeleine, John, Isaac), Lucy (Charles) Jerabek of Santa Maria, CA (Charlotte, Lily) , Holly (Tyson) Ingels (Oliver, Beatrice) and Cody (Jen) Henderson (Lizzy, Allie) all of Denver, CO, Carrie (Derek) Brown of Hudson, IA (Nick, Ellie, Sofia), Andrew (Pavlina) Jones of Brno, CZ Republic (Sasha, Julia), Chad (Autumn) Novinger of Collins, IA (Brecken), Jennifer (Scott) Drey of Elkhart, IA (Colton, Cayden) , Jamie (Shawn) Golly of Grimes, IA (Tailor, Madisyn, Reagyn) and Jace (Cassie) Novinger of Urbandale, IA (Courtney). , her sister Ester Burchett of Kirksville, MO and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Fredregill Funeral Home of Zearing, IA. Visitation will be Friday November 15 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and the funeral on Saturday November 16 at 10:00 AM, both at the Collins Christian Church in Collins, IA. Memorial contributions may be made to the Collins Christian Church.
