Eric John Jensvold, 53, of Nevada, Iowa, died Monday, October 7, 2013 at University Hospital in Iowa City after a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Eric was born March 1, 1960 at Evanston, Illinois, the son of Bruce Con and Patricia Ann (Lufkin) Jensvold. He graduated from Ringsted High School in 1979 and then attended Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo where he earned an Associate’s Degree in Animal Science in 1981. Eric was united in marriage June 12, 1981 in Cedar Falls, Iowa to Diane Matthias.

Eric was a retired truck Driver for Decker Trucking having driven for twenty-one years. He was honored as Driver of the Year in 2011 and had logged over 2.6 million safe miles.

He was a member of Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the NRA, O.O.I.D.A., and the Nevada Kiwanis Club. He was enjoyed NASCAR, camping and farming as a working hobby. Eric took pride in never owning a General Motors or a foreign car and his own personal vehicle was a Ford truck.

Eric is survived by his wife, Diane, of Nevada, IA; two daughters: Heather (Omar) Aleman of Eldridge, IA, Heidi Jensvold of Nevada, IA; one grandchild: Alejandro “Alex” Aleman; his father and mother: Bruce and Pat Jensvold of Phoenix, AZ; and three brothers: Karl (Kathy) Jensvold of Lincoln, NE, David Jensvold and Mark Jensvold, both of Mesa, AZ.

Memorial Mass Service will be 10:30 AM Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church. Inurnment will be Saint Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Nevada.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM, with a Christian Vigil Service at 7:30 PM, Friday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation.

The Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
