Reverend Lanny Tuttle, 76, of Ankeny, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

Lanny was born February 28, 1937, to Bern and Ardis (Lilly) Tuttle. He graduated from Kingsley High School in 1955, and was united in marriage to Shirley Bishop on June 8, 1958, in Spencer, Iowa. Shirley passed away February 7, 2008.

Lanny attended Morningside College and was ordained in the United Methodist Church in June of 1972. He served in several communities including: Spencer, Sanborn, Dunkerton, Adel, Carroll, Oskaloosa and Maxwell. Lanny retired from ministry in 2012.

Lanny had been involved with Lions Club, Stephen Ministries and Walk to Emmaus. He had ministered to youth for 50 years in camp ministries.

Lanny is survived by his son, Mark (Janet) Tuttle of Ankeny; his father, Bern Tuttle of Newton; his grandchildren, Matt Tuttle of Pleasant Hill and Bekah Tuttle of Windsor Heights; and his brother-in-law, Larry Riggs of Plover, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his wife; his mother; and his sister, Lori Riggs.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2013, at the Ankeny First United Methodist Church, 206 SW Walnut Street in Ankeny. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2013, at the Christian Life Center in Ankeny, 710 NE 36th Street. Private family interment will follow the service in Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton.

Memorial contributions may be made to Recovery Ministries at the Ankeny First United Methodist Church or Camperships at Crossroads Church in Ankeny.
