OBITUARY

DEATH OF MRS. JAS. BLACKMAN

Mrs. Belinda A. Blackman, wife of James Blackman, died quite suddenly at their home in this city, late Thursday evening. She had been for some time in poor health and had had occasional attacks of heart trouble; but of late it has been Mr. Blackman and not his wife that has been counted the sick one of the family. Their son, T. W. had had the principal care of Mr. Blackman in his illness; but Mrs. Blackman had been about the home attending in part at least to her household work, and she even did up her kitchen work after supper last evening. About ten o'clock, however, she was taken suddenly ill, and her death followed within a few minutes.

Belinda Ann Allen was born in the state of New York April 24, 1834, and died at Nevada, Iowa, February 21, 1907, aged 72 years, 9 months and 28 days. She was reared in Rochester and was there married January 14, 1852 to Mr. Blackman, who now in his 82d year, survives her. The family moved to Benton county, Iowa, in 1864, and from there to Story county in 1872. Upon arriving here they made their home in Nevada occupying a log house that stood on the corner where W. P. Zwilling now resides. From this corner they removed ten years after a block and a half west to their home where they have lived for nearly a quarter of a century.

Mrs. Blackman was woman domestic in her tastes and habits a most faithful member of the of the Methodist church, a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by her husband and two sons, T. W. and Lewis, both of whom are associated in business with their father, have continued to live at home, and have cared for the old folks in their decline. Mrs. Blackman will be much regretted by all who came within the sphere of her influence. Her funeral will be conducted next Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by the pastor, Rev. R. E. Shaw.
