Eldon Lester Frye
July 26, 1915 to Jan. 8, 2003

Eldon Lester Frye, 87, of Nevada, died of respiratory failure on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Story County Long Term Care in Nevada.

He was born July 26, 1915, in Iowa Center of Warren C. and Mary E. (Baker) Frye, He was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Sylvia Irene Haynes on July 1, 1942 in Lancaster, Mo. He was a farmer, construction worker and water department superintendent for the City of Nevada. He was a member of the First Christian Church, William F. Ball American Legion Post No. 48 and 50-year member of the Nevada Masonic Lodge. he enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. he had been a life-long resident of Story County.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Frye of Nevada; two sons, Virgil W. Frye of Slater and Eldon L. Frye of St. Charles; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lenora Liebus of Couer-d-Alene, Idaho.

He was preceded in death his parents, Warren and Mary Frye and Viola Nodland, and two sisters, Jessie and Leona.

Funeral services were were held Sunday, Jan 12, at the First Christian Church in Nevada with Pastor Brice Hughes officiating. Burial with military rites followed in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery A. memorial fund has been established. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangments.
