Nancy Rae Stone
Feb. 10, 1934 to Oct. 21, 2003Nancy Rae Stone died Tuesday, Oct 21, at Long Term Care in Nevada after a lengthy illness.
She was born to Clifford and Alice (Swain) Sorensen on Feb. 10, 1934, in Nevada. She married Robert Stone on Aug. 8, 1954, in Nevada. After retirement, Nancy and Robert spent six years living in Mission Texas during the winter months. Her lifetime employments include working for Merle Hunt Gardens, The Circle Theater, R. H. Donnelley Corporation, Grandview College, secretary in Washington, D.C., Nevada Federal Savings & Loan, Nevada National Bank and Iowa State University. She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church, and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 2209, with other memberships that included Fireman's Auxiliary and Story County Nomads Camping Association.
Survivors include her husband Robert of Nevada; a son Gary (and Cathy) Stone of Nevada; a daughter Lori (and Rodney) Payne of Lubbock, Texas; four grandchildren and two Pomeranians, Gizmo and Lexi.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada with Pastor Myron D. Herzberg officiating. The body will be cremated following services and the cremains will be buried at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery on Monday, Oct. 27 at 11 a.m. Visitation is being held today, Thursday, Oct. 23, after 3 p.m. with the family present from 5-7 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada. A memorial fund had been established for the National Liver Fund.
