Obituary for Donna Jean George
Donna George, 68, of Cambridge, passed away Friday, September 6, 2013, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
Donna was born September 26, 1944, to Fred Earl and Pauline “Bonnie” Lavonne Fisher in Des Moines. She graduated in 1962 from Tech High School in Des Moines with an emphasis in Restaurant and Hotel Management. Donna married out of high school and had a son and daughter and later divorced. Her life was raising her two children.
While working in Story County, Donna met and married John A. George on August 3, 1979, in Story City. John brought a son to the family; later Donna and John had a daughter of their own.
Donna retired from Burke Marketing after 21 years. She was a member of the Maxwell Legion Auxiliary for many years.
Donna enjoyed her family and activities with her grandkids. She loved baking, crafts and was always close to her pets.
Donna is survived by her husband of 34 years, John of Cambridge; her son, Frank (Monica) Hollander of Rockledge, Florida; her daughter, Paula (Kevin) Luther of Nevada; her son, Shane (Sarah) George of Centennial, Colorado; her daughter, Annie (Larry) Breon of Ames; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; ; a brother: Kirt (Rhonda) Fisher of Des Moines, Iowa; a sister: Nana (Kermit) Haines of Phillips, Maine; and her dog, Barney. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada (1418 Fawcett Parkway). Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, also at the funeral home with burial to follow in Cambridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Amanda the Panda in loving memory of Donna.
