JAMES TAYLOR SHEARMAN

James Taylor Shearman, 86, died at his home in Cranford Annex, Tuesday, Jan. 1, at 11:45. He was ill but a short time, death resulting from a heart attack.

Mr. Shearman was born Aug. 28, 1865 in Clinton county, Iowa. He moved to Ames in 1936 from Kirkman, Iowa. he was a railroad agent and operator for the Chicago and Northwestern railroad but retired in 1932 after 47 years of service. During that time he was employed by the railroad, he was located at Scranton, Ross, Grand Junction, Kirkman and Dow City, all in Iowa.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge and a charter member of the Order of Railroad Telegraphers holding card No. 110.

He was married to Emma Jane Eddy at Ross, Iowa, May 15, 1890.

Surviving are four sons, Ora L. of Hamilton City, Calif.; Herbert A. of Nevada, Vernon of Schleswig, Iowa, and Glen M. of Siren, Wis.; two daughters, Mrs. Elsie Croft, of Kirkman, and Mrs. Alice Morgan of Ames; two brothers, Will Shearman of Bruce, Wis., and Inman Shearman of Ross, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Chambers of Carroll, Iowa, and Mrs. Martha Trible of Bethel, Kan.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Schack funeral home at Harlan. Burial will be in the Rose Hill cemetery at Kirkman.
