Helen C. Cook
July 1, 1902 - May 29, 1995Helen C. Cook,92, Ames, died May 29 of pulmonary embolism at Mary Greeley Medical Center.
She was born July 1, 1902 to Alfred Ogle and Rosa Belle Rowland Crooks in Primghar.
She received her teacher's certificate from Iowa State Teachers College. She taught in Fernald until she was married.
She married Iver S. Cook on June 21, 1930 in Nevada.
She was a homemaker and farmed with Iver near Fernald until moving to Nevada. She enjoyed gardening and reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Iver, who died in 1983, and her grandson Daniel Grant Cook.
She is survived by her son, Robert W. Cook of Ames; two sisters, Lorene Rute of Milford, and Dorothy Kaiser of Archer; two brothers, Harley Crooks of Lake Park, and Glenn Crooks of Spencer; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be June 1 from 1 to 8 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be Friday, June 2, at 1:30 p.m. at the Nevada United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James King officiating. Burial will be at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home.
She was a member of the Nevada United Methodist Church and the Church Circle. She was a member of the E.O.W. Club of Fernald.
