Howard Stotts McGriff
Sept. 20, 1909-Feb. 17, 1999

Howard Stotts McGriff, 89, of Reb Bluff, Calif., died of respiratory failure Wednesday in Red Bluff. No services are planned Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Howard Stotts McGriff was born in Adel to Charles V. and Ada M. McGriff. He graduated from Ames High School in 1927 and earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering fro Iowa State University in 1937. On Dec 25, 1937, he married Laura Emma Kooser in Ames. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-46 and 1951-53, and retired as a commander in the Naval reserves. He also worked as a marketing manager for Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Shasta Division, in Red Bluff, Calif. He was a life member of BPOE No. 1250 in Red Bluff, Calif. He also was a member of Delta Upsilon at ISU; American Legion Post 167 in Red Bluff, Calif.; The Retired Officers Association; several industry associations; adn Wilcox Golf Club. Mr. McGriff enjoyed many years of fishing and hunting.

Survivors indlude his wife, of Red Bluff, Calif.; two nephews, Charles McGriff of Plymouth, Minn., and Thomas McGriff of Boone.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

No visitation is planned.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Childrens Hospital.

Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
