Funeral Services Held Wednesday for Mrs. M. Mathison

Funeral services the Mrs. M. Mathison, 68, who passed away at her home in the east edge of the city Sunday evening were held at the Morfoot funeral home Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Reynolds C. Murdock in charge. Mrs. Beulah Freland sang "Rock of Ages,: and "Jesus, Lover of My Soul," accompanied by Mrs. Garnet Hathaway. Interment was made in the Nevada cemetery by the side of her two sons.

Pallbearers who served were all members of the family, consisting of Merle Thornton, Roy Coughenour, Jack Coughenour, Art Mathison, Merle Mathison and Leo Mathison.

There were many relatives and friends here from a distance for the services.

Relatives and friends in attendance well filled the capacity for the services.

The following life sketch of the deceased was read by the pastor during the service:

Anna, daughter of Jacob and Lucile Ray, was born on the old Ray homestead north of Iowa Center, April 17, 1874. She grew to young womanhood in that community and was united in marriage on May 1, 1895 to Mr. Mathison. To this union three children were born: Virgil Laverne, who died in infancy; Forest, who passed away at the age of 16, and Miss Esther of Nevada.

They made their home on the Ray homestead for several years and then moved to Nevada thirty-two years ago where they have made their home since. For past past twenty years Mrs. Mathison had been a patient sufferer from many physical ailments. Diabetes and other complications caused her much discomfort the last several years.

Mrs. Mathison enjoyed her home and was the type of individual who always thought of the welfare of others before herself. She loved the out-of-doors and spent many happy hours caring for the things of beauty around her.

Early in life she made her confession for Christ and remained a staunch believer throughout her life. Because of her physical condition she had given up nearly all her social activities and gave herself entirely to the enjoyment of her family and those who came and went from the home.

Mrs. Mathison was feeling quite well for her even last Friday, having made a short trip with her daughter. That night she became violently ill and soon entered a diabetic coma which resulted in death Sunday evening at seven o'clock.

She leaves her husband and one daughter to mourn the passing of a patient and loving wife and mother. Two sisters, Mrs. George Coughenour and Mrs. Frank Thornton, with many other relatives, neighbors and friends feel the loss of a kindly soul.
