Alfred Milton Peterson
Dec. 25, 1908 to Nov. 15, 2001

Alfred Milton Peterson, 92, of Nevada, died of complications from pneumonia on Thursday, Nov. 15, at Boone County Hospital in Boone.

He was born Dec. 25, 1908, in Nevada to Peter C. and Anna (Meyers) Peterson. He was a 1927 graduate of Nevada High School and married Ferne Highland on June 30, 1933 in Roland. He owned and operated Al's Standard Service Station for 39 years and retired in 1974. He was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church and the Indian Creek Country Club, and a charter member of the Dance Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and reading. He was a lifelong resident of Nevada and served as the 1994 Lincoln Highway Parade Marshal.

Survivors include his wife, Ferne, of Nevada; a daughter, Sue (and Rodney) Hansen of Ames; four grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Max A. Peterson on July 9, 1988; seven sisters; two brothers; and one brother in infancy.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 19, at Memorial Lutheran Church with Pastor Myron D. Herzberg officiating. Burial followed in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangements.
