Elinor Doi Fujinaka, 89, formerly of Ames, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, at the Madrid Home. Funeral services will be Monday, July 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames, with a social time to follow.

Elinor was born on April 22, 1924, in Puunene, Maui, Hawaii; the daughter of Kangoro Doi and Haruyo Nashida. Elinor married Makoto Fujinaka on April 3, 1948 in Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii. She worked as the executive secretary for the ISU Student Health Center until her retirement. Elinor was a member of the Ames Women's Club and volunteered at Mary Greeley Medical Center.

Elinor is survived by her son, Charles (Tamara) Fujinaka of Ankeny; grandsons, Matthew (Karmi Mattson) Fujinaka of Minneapolis and Michael (Miranda) Fujinaka of St. Charles, MO; and great-grandsons, Christopher and Connor Fujinaka of St. Charles. Elinor was preceded in death by her husband and her sisters, Jane Goo and Jean Hirayama.
