From Bacon Funeral Home & Crematory obituary, Nevada and Maxwell, Story County, Iowa:

James “Jim” Spaid, 80, formerly of Ames, died from Diffused Lewy Body Disease, Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Rolling Green Village in Nevada.

Jim was born May 9, 1933 near Belmond, Iowa, the son of Charles C. and Vera Mae (Nolte) Spaid. He was united in marriage to Elsie Anderson on December 1, 1951 at Cambridge, Iowa. Jim was a farmer, mechanic and a carpenter. Jim was a member of the Ames Nazarene Church. Jim was a hard worker with a wonderful sense of humor. He loved his work and caring for his family.

Jim is survived by his wife, Elsie of Ames; two sons: Jim L. (Peggy) Spaid of Radcliff, Stan (Julie) Spaid of Ames; two daughters: Jackie (Gary) Trainer of Fort Dodge, Lisa Spaid of Ames; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and a brother: Ralph Spaid of Nevada.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Spaid.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to One Heart Equestrian Therapy near Roland, Iowa.
