Hubert (Bert) Ashe Willard, 78, of Ames, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. He was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Hubert was born August 31, 1934 to James Edward and Helen Claire (Ashe) Willard in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was a 1952 graduate of Knoxville Catholic High School and a civil engineering alumnus of the class of 1956 at the University of Notre Dame. He served in the United States Army Reserves. On February 12, 1972 he married Georda Schlitt in Lincoln, Nebraska. Hubert was employed as Division Administrator at the Federal Highway Administration in Ames for nineteen years. He was an avid genealogist who, for over forty years, collected and shared an extensive family history.

Hubert is survived by his wife, Georda; son, Matthew and wife Maria of Shaker Heights, OH; daughter, Christine Noria and husband Francisco of South Bend, IN; daughter, Mary Mannes and husband Chris of Maple Grove, MN; son, Gregory and wife Angelina (Angel) of Des Moines, IA, brother, George and wife Mary Catherine; sisters, Helen Jean Wedekind, Mary Josephine (Jody) Woody, Dorothy Romines, Patricia (Patsy) Connelly; and loving grandchildren, Diego, Ciara, Perpetua, Felicity, Bianca, Oscar, and Leonard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, James (Jess) and Robert (Bobby) Willard; sister, Anne Madeline S.L. (Ann Rita); brother-in-laws, Roy Wedekind, Richard (Dick) Connelly, and Samuel (Sam) Woody.
