Francis “Fritz” Roche, 89, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at his residence in Zearing, Iowa under the care of Iowa Hospice of Marshalltown. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 5-7:30 p.m. with a Rosary beginning at 7:30 p.m. at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Zearing, Iowa lead by Rex Gogerty. Funeral mass will be on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. with Father Rick Dagit officiating. Interment will be in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Nevada, Iowa.

Francis Joseph Roche was born on September 12, 1923 in Zearing, Iowa to Joseph and Mary (Carmody) Roche. He attended and graduated from Zearing High School in 1942. Following high school Fritz began working the land in the Zearing area. Fritz married Joanne “Jo” Doser on November 22, 1969 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Zearing, Iowa. Fritz and Jo continued to farm together until they retired in 1993. He was a lifelong member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church.

Surviving Fritz are his cousins Charlene Bryan of Marshalltown, IA, Dwayne Weuve of Des Moines, IA, Deloris Jones of Zearing, IA, Isabelle Jones of Nevada, IA, Sonny (Carol) Lyons of Huxley, IA, Paul (JoAnne) Moon of Ames, IA; and lifelong friend Asher Oakes.

Fritz was preceded in death by his parents; wife Joanne; 2 infant brothers; brother James; and sister Elizabeth.

Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing has been entrusted with the care of Fritz and his family.
