Roger Warren Satre
June 13, 1939 - May 31, 2013Roger Warren Satre 73, of Ames passed away May 31, 2013 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. There will be a Gathering of Friends 1:30 pm Wednesday, June 5, at the Moose Lodge in Ames.
Roger was born June 13, 1939 in Webster City to Gerhardt and Esther (Bergman) Satre. He grew up in Stanhope graduating from Stanhope Consolidated High School and was raised in the Lutheran faith. On October 27, 1957 he was married to Donna Rae Shepherd in the Little Brown Church. Roger attended Barber College and has owned and operated his own barber shop in Ames since 1958 until retiring in 2012. Roger enjoyed tooling leather, he was a cowboy at heart and loved horses and attending the Sydney rodeo every year, Roger loved the Black Hills and everything about South Dakota, he just wanted to be a cowboy.
Roger is survived by his wife, Donna, of Ames; two daughters Susan Gail Satre, and Staci (Rudy) Carter, both of Ames; two sons, Dave (Cindy) Satre of St. Paul, MN and Dan (Alisha) Satre of Denison. Nine grandchildren April Parrish, Nic, Tina, Randi and Tyler Satre, Danielle Pepper, Josh, Cody Brown and Jake Carter; two great grandchildren Chawnti Parrish and Cameron Pepper; one brother Richard (Jane) Satre; one nephew Eric Satre and many cousins and extended family.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents.
