Marvin L. Mortenson
Marvin L. Mortenson, 77, of Story City died on Wednesday, November 24, 1993 at his home in Story City of kidney failure.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 27, 1993 at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall with the Rev. John Wogaland officiating. Burial was in the Story City Cemetery. Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Marvin Mortenson, the son of Irvin and Harmke (Koop) Mortenson ws born in rural Kamrar, Iowa on May 19, 1916. One June 13, 1938 he marries Hortense Hilpipre. They farmed near Jewell and Gilbert and owned and operated a restaurant and bar in Gilbert. They had lived in Story City and Randall area since 1957. He was employed at the National Animal Disease Lab in Ames for 17 years, retiring in 1978.
He is survived by his wife, Hortense of Story City; 3 daughters, Mary Dodds of Ames, Colleen Claude of Jewell, Susan Johnson of Plymouth, Minnesota; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and a sister Eleanor Olson of Fresno, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers, Allan, Harold, Edward and Clem Mortenson.
Memorials may be given to Elim Lutheran Church or Riverside Bible Camp of Story City.
