EVA MAE SOWERS

Funeral services for Eva Mae Sowers, 72, rural route Story City, were held Saturday afternoon, Oct. 13, at Grace United Methodist Church, Story City. The Rev. Duane O'Tool was in charge. Son Sanderson, soloist sang, "In the Garden" and "Amazing Grace," accompanied by Mrs. Barbara Doolittle, organist.

Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. Pall bearers were DeWayne Kammin, Richard C. Johnson, Arthur Okland, Casper Torkelson, John Dickerson and Roy Johnson.

Honorary pall bearers were B.W. Jacobson, Guy Johnson, Reuben Miller, Don Gilchrist, Arling Isvik, and Lloyd Dadisman.

Mrs. Sowers was born in Stevens Point, Wis., April 19, 1907 to parents John J. and Jenny Daisy Summers. On July 20, 1928, she was united in marriage to Clarence P. Sowers. They farmed west of Story City and lived their entire married life on the same farm. Three sons were born to this union.

Mrs. Sowers had been in failing health the past year, and passed away at the Story City Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, Oct. 10.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence, and three sons: David Sowers of Colo, Iowa; Richard Sowers and Jerry Sowers, both of Story City; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers: Roy Summers of Stevens Point, Wis.; Ralph Summers, Fon du Lac, Wis.; John Summers, North Carleston, S.C.; and James Summer of Albuquerque, N.M.; three sisters: Pearl Cowles of Fon du Lac, Wis; Luella Virtle of Stevens Point, Wis. and Myrtle Miller of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents, John J. and Jennie Daisy Summers, four brothers and two sisters.
