Ida Howell

Funeral services for Ida B. Howell, age 76, were held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City, Saturday, Sept. 18 at 1:30 p.m. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.

Pastor C. A. Gisselquist officiated. Music was provided by Mrs. Harold Olson at the organ.

Casket bearers were Arnold Johnson, Richard Ness, William Petersen, Joel Ose, Elmer Jensen, Lynn Beyer, Everett Anderson and Jim Jameson.

Ida was born June 17, 1900 at Dawson, Minn. Her parents were Henry and Dorothea Luglan. She had four brothers: Orey, Arthur, Gus and Helmer Luglan, and one sister, Grace.

At the age of 34 years, she was united in marriage to Burris (Chick) Howell. Two years later, their son, John was born.

In her early years she trained at Iowa Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. She practiced her profession for many years throughout the state of Iowa. For a number of years she served as school nurse for the Story City schools. She lived the last 39 years of her life in Story City. She passed away at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines Wednesday morning, Sept. 15.

Survivors include her husband, B.M. (Chick) Howell; a son, John Howell of Ocqucoc, Michigan; four grandchildren; one sister, Grace Butler of Des Moines; and two brothers,: Art Luglan of Eldora and Orey Lugland of Kerrville, Texas.
