Phyllis J. Matson

Phyllis June Matson, 79, of Story City, Iowa died Friday, July 23, 2004 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa of complications from a stroke. Services were held Monday, July 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, Story City with Pastor Brian McNamara officiating.

Phyllis June Matson was born June 9, 1925 in Story City to Joe and Fern Johnson. She married Luther Matson March 29, 1946. She worked as a housewife and mother. She was a life-long member of Grace United Methodist Church where she volunteered for many services relating to the church.

Immediate survivors include her husband, Luther Matson of Story City, two daughter, Claudia Pauk and her husband Paul of Story City, and JoLene Pepper and her husband Matt of Gilbert; one sister, LaVonne Schaefer of Michigan; one brother, Claude Johnson of Idaho; six grandchildren, Angela Block, Carrie Thielen, Christina Glaub, Mollie Walter, Paula Pauk and Adam Pepper; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church of Israel Family Hospice House.
