Curtis Delmar Henderson

Curtis Delmar Henderson was born to Charlie and Emma Henderson on January 11, 1913, at Radcliffe, Ioea, and passed away June 28, 1975, at his rural Zearing farmhouse at the age of 62 years.

He grew up in the Hamilton and Story County area and graduated from school in Zearing in 1931. Curtis started farming with his step-father, Martin Holland, and had continued to farm northwest of Zearing for all his life.

Curtis had been in ill health for past 1 1/2 years and farmed with his son Don this past year.

On June 10, 1944, Curtis was united in marriage with Leona Thorsnes at the St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City, Iowa. He is survived by his wife and six children: Carroll of Milan, Minn.; Mrs. Richard (Linda) Plum of Harlan, Iowa; Mrs. Herb (Jean) Wilson of Guttenberg, Iowa; Mrs. Dan (Julie) Bosma of Ocheyedan, Iowa; Donald and Dave, both at home, and four grandchildren, Craig Henderson, Brian and Darin Plum and Ben Wilson.

Curtis was a lifetime member of the Bethany Lutheran Church at McCallsburg, and the Beran Lutheran Church at Roland. He also served on several Farm Bureau committees and the Story County Extension Service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charle Henderson and Emma Henderson Holland, and one infant brother, Melbourne.
