Leona J. Henderson, 77, of Nevada, died of a heart attack on March 7 at Econolodge Motel in Sioux Center.

She was born May 15, 1925 in Story City to John E. and Lena Josephine (Amdall) Thorsnes. She was confirmed and baptized at St. Petri Lutheran Church. She married Curtis Henderson on June 10, 1944. She had lived in Nevada since 1989, and in Zearing prior to that. She operated Henderson upholstery for more than 40 years. She enjoyed baking, quilting and sewing, and her grandchildren were her passion.

Survivors include three sons, Carrol of Blaine, Minn., Don of Zearing and Dave of Colo; three daughters, Linda Plum of Algona, Jean Wilson of Nevada and Julie Bosma of Hull; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1975, three brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 11, at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City with the Rev. Thomas Reuss officiating. Burial was in the Story City Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in her name. Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home, Story City, handled arrangements.
