Services Thursday for Even Hegland

Even Hegland, 85, of R.R. 2 Jewell, died Tuesday afternoon April 8 at Story City Hospital.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Thursday from Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. The Rev. Norbert Jolivette will officiate with burial in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.

Mr. Hegland was born July 7, 1890 in Hjelmeland, Stavanger, Norway. He came to the United States in 1907. In 1908 he began farming with his brother near Garden City. Mr. Hegland married Caroline Skjeie March 4, 1925. He farmed in Hamilton and Hardin Counties. He moved to Story City in 1964. In 1975 he moved to R.R. 2 Jewell.

He is survived by a son, Marlen T. Hegland of R.R. 2 Jewell and two granddaughters, Jill and Vicki Hegland.

Mr. Hegland was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, who died in 1968, a brother and a sister.
