SECOND BROTHER VICTIM OF FIRE

Emil Gandrup Passes Away at Belmond Last Sunday,
Second Victim of Large Fire Two Weeks Ago

Emil Gandrup died at the hospital at Belmond last Sunday morning, the second victim of the large fire that destroyed six places of business a week ago last Friday. The body was broght to Story City on Sunday evening and arrangements were made for funeral services to be held from the Arthur Gandrup home.

Emil was injured when he leaped from a window in the second story of the building where the two brothers were rooming. He made an effort to save his brother, William, but being almost overcome with smoke he jumped from the window in an effort to save his own life. His brother William was burned to death and his charred remains were brought to Story City, burial taking place April 1. The Gandrup brothers were members one of the pioneer families of Story City, their father having conducted the drug store now owned by Arthur Gandrup. The deceased leaves one brother Arthur and one sister Emilia both of Story City. They were at the bedside of their brother when he passed away.
