DEATHS

MRS. MARTHA NOREM

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Norem were held at St. Petri Lutheran Church, Story City, Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. Pastor Rhuben O. Aga officiated.

Mrs. Robert Hermanson sang, "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace". Mrs. Joel Jacobson was organist. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. Pall bearers were Harley Osborn, Gary Osborn, Steve Erb, Richard Nissen, Fred Wright and Jesse Solyst.

Martha L. Nelson, daughter of Gunder and Malinda Nelson was born on a farm near McCallsburg March 28, 1893.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at the East Bergen Lutheran Church. April 29, 1920, she was united in marriage to Halvor E. Norem, in Roland.

They lived on a farm near McCallsburg until their retirement from farming, when they moved to Story City where they resided at 510 Park Avenue.

Mr. Norem passed away February 6, 1972. Mrs. Norem had been in ill health the past year and passed away at the Story City Memorial hospital on Sunday morning September 30. She had reached the age of 80 years, 6 months and two days.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Clara Whattoff of Ames and Mrs. Marcella Osborn of Zearing; 15 grandchildren, four great-grand children; and two sisters, Mrs. Edith Olson and Miss Bertha Nelson, both of Story City. Her parents, two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
