Obituary

HALVOR E. NOREM

Funeral services for Halvor E. Norem, 83, Story City, were held Feb. 9 from St. Petri Lutheran Church, Story City, with Rev. Rhuben O. Aga officiating. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.

Mr. Norem was born April 29, 1858 in Etne, Norway. He served in the U.S. Army in World War I and married Martha Lizzie Nelson in 1920. Mr. Norem farmed in the McCallsburg area, until he retired and moved to Story City in 1957. He died at his home Feb. 6.

Survivors include his wife, Lizzie; two daughters, Mrs. Archie (Marcella) Osborn of Zearing and Mrs. Donald (Clara) Whattoff, Ames; 15 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Anna Simonson of Harmony, Minn.; four nieces and six nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and a sister.
