Marie Longnecker, 52, died Friday, formerly of Story City

Marie Kline Longnecker, 52, Des Moines, died Friday, Jne 11, In Des Moines after an extended illness.

Services will be held in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City on Monday, June 14, at 1 p.m.

Mrs. Longnecker, a former resident of Story City, is survived by her husband, Jack, Des Moines; a daughter, Marlene Kline Shoppe, California; two grandchildren and several brothers and sisters.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Merle Kline, who was killed in World War II.

Mrs. Marie Clarice Kline Longnecker passed away Friday, June 11 at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines following a nine-month bout with cancer. She was the daughter of Elmer and Rose Frette and was born in Story City on Sept. 16, 1922.

On October 29, 1922, she was baptized into the Christian faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church by the Rev. T. T. Heimarck. On May 9, 1937 she was confirmed. Her public education was received in the Story City schools.

On Nov. 21, 1942 she was united in marriage to Merle Kline of Nevada. Merle was killed in France on June 6, 1944 during World War II. On December 12, 1944 a daughter, Merlene was born. She later moved to Boone, Iowa and joined the Augustana Lutheran Church.

On April 2, 1966 she was united in marriage to Jack Longnecker in California. For the past 10 years they have made their home in Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother.

Survivors include her husband, Jack; a daughter, Mrs. Tom (Merlene) Schuppe and two grandchildren, Stepehn and Susan of Manteca, Calif.; and also five sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services were conducted from the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City on Monday, June 14 at 1 p.m. Pastor C. A. Gisselquist was the officiating minister. The Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Robert Hermanson sang, accompanied by Mrs. Janet Olson at the Organ.

Casket bears were Lyle Oleson, Jack Grice, Lloyd Kline, Michael Manges, Harold Clayberg and Darwin Johnson. Burial was at the Story City Municipal Cemetery.
