Arthur C. Nelson
Feb. 13, 1911-July 25, 1996

Arthur C. Nelson, 85, of Story City, died of a cardiac arrest Thursday at Bethany Manor in Story City. Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Bethany Manor Chapel, with the Rev. Sandy Arneson officiating. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Arthur C. Nelson was born in Ames, the son of Eugene C. and Helen M. (Allan) Nelson. He was a 1930 graduate of Ames High School and attended Iowa State University. On March 18, 1938, he married Doris V. Short in Clarion. Mr. Nelson was employed as a machinist at the Allan Machine Shop in Ames. He retired in 1976. Mr. Nelson enjoyed gardening. He was involved in numismatics and served as president of coin clubs in Ames, Boone, Newton and Des Moines. He was also a member of the Masonic Orders and Shrine.

Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife; three daughters, Frances K. Robert of Johnston, Suzann N. Miller of Waukee and Donna L. Buhman of Ames; one son, William A. Nelson of Ames; two brothers, William C. Nelson of Ames and Loyd Nelson of St. Louis; 13 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Visitation is tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Ames.
