Obituary for Johanna M. Risdal

Johanna was born on May 30, 1910, northeast of Roland, Iowa to parents Olaus and Julia (Twedt) Osheim. She was a lifetime resident of Roland, Iowa. She was baptized, confirmed, married and having her funeral service at Bergen Lutheran Church. She graduated from McCallsburg High School in 1928. Johanna married Rudolph M. Risdal on December 31, 1938. She enjoyed baking, music and sang in the church choir, watching her Cubs and Hawkeyes on TV, and most of all her family and all of their activities.

Johanna M. Risdal, 102, passed away on March 4, 2013 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.

She survived by her children: Julie (Davis) Gilbertson of Albert Lea, MN, Barbara (Howard) Larson of Roland, and Ronald (Sandy) Risdal of Roland; one sister Leonora Christian of Story City; 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her: parents, husband Rudolph, 2 brothers: Lawrence and Orris Osheim; 6 sisters: Gertrude Wilson, Ione Osheim, Wilma Noty, Helen Higgins, Jemima Rasmussen and Cora O’Brien.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Bergen Lutheran Church or Bethany Manor.
