Ethel L. Holm

Ethel L. Holm, 96, of Story City died of congestive heart failure on Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Bethany Manor Nursing Home in Story City. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 29 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City, with Rev. Thomas W. Reuss officiating. Burial was in the Story City Cemetery.

Ethel L. Holm was born Feb. 18, 1905 in Story City to Eli M. and Lena (Juhl) Olson. She was a life-long resident of Story City. Ethel married Torb Holm on Oct 1, 1929. She attended Marshalltown Central Iowa Business School for one year. She was primarily a homemaker, but had worked as a secretary for the Horticulture Department at Iowa State College in Ames. She was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church.

Survivors include three sons, Richard and wife Ramona of Des Moines, Tom and wife Bonnie of Ankeny, and Jerry and wife Orpha of Huntington Beach, California; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on Feb. 17, 1975; and two brothers, Roy and Chester Olson.
