OBITUARY OF MRS. G. LARSON

Funeral services were held Thursday last week, July 17, for Mrs. Gunder Larson (Vik) who passed away Monday last week at 4:15 p.m., following a long illness. Services were held at Salem Lutheran church in Roland with Rev. H. N. Bakke of McCallsburg officiating in the absence of Rev. Holen.

Two beautiful hymns were sung by Otis Boyd, accompanied by Mrs. Arvie Jacobson. Pallbeareres were her grandsons, Emery Lenning, Jerral Lenning, Glenn Lenning, Kermit Lenning, David Larson and Jennings Knutson.

Ellen Marie Knutson, daughter of Iver and Christina Knutson, was born in Stavanger, Norway, on December 18, 1862. At the age of 19 months she came to America with her parents, to live at Lisbon, Illinois. She was baptized and confirmed at Lee, Illinois, by Rev. John Takle.

On January 15, 1883, she was united in marriage to Osmund Lenning in the Lee, Illinois church by Rev. Norby. To this union six children were born: Ida (Mrs. H. R. Alcorn) of McCallsburg; Omer Lenning, Radcliffe; Kurnel Lenning, Roland; Clarence Lenning, New York; and Odie Lenning, Story City.

Her husband and a daughter preceded her in death in the year 1895.

The Lenning family live on a farm near Radcliffe. She was an active member of the country church near Radcliffe.

On April 14, 1910, she was united in marriage to Gunder Larson in Radcliffe. No children were born to this union. They made their home in Roland, where she was an active member of Salem Lutheran church. Her husband preceded her in death in March 1936.

Mrs. Larson is survived by one daughter, Ida; four sons, Omer, Kernel, Odie, and Clarence; and 15 grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers: Eddie Knutson, Lee, Ill; Chalie Knutson, Malta, Ill.; and Clarence Knutson, Story City. Three sisters and one brother preceded her in death.

Due to failing health, she sold her property in Roland to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. Kurnel Lenning near Roland, who had tenderly cared for her during her illness. Two weeks before her death she moved to the Odie Lenning home, where she passed away Monday, July 14, at 4:15 p.m. She was 89 years, 7 months of age.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Knutson and Mrs. Don Hickey of Malta, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Knuton and son Arlain, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Edwards, Mrs. and Mrs. Malvern Knutson and daughter Linda of Lee, Ill., Oliver Lenning of Spirit Lake; and others from Blairsburg, Radcliffe, Story City, Boone, Webster City, McCallsburg and Nevada.

We wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to neighbors and friends, and the Ladies Aid at Roland who helped serve lunch, and for the beautiful flowers and memorials to missions.
