Doris Skare
June 26, 1932 - January 12, 2013

Doris Fern Skare was born June 13, 1932 in Des Moines, Iowa to William and Ethel (Kelly) Stevens. She married James Skare on February 14, 1951 in Ames. Doris worked as a cook for several years at Bethany Manor and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was active in the Story City American Legion Auxiliary, enjoyed baking and her grandchildren and great grandchildren were very special to her.

She is survived by two daughters, Vickey Peters and her husband Tim of Carthage, MO and Kathy Ballard and her husband Craig of Troy, Il; three sons, William and his wife Kristi of Boone, Robert of Story City and David and his wife Priscilla of Wilmington, NC; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James on April 7, 1999; two sisters, Marge Sherman and Dorothy Johnson and a brother Don Stevens.
