Eitlo "Bud" Aldo Corieri
November 27, 1920 - January 14, 2013

Eitlo "Bud" Corieri, 92, of Ames, died on Monday, January 14, 2013 at Mary Greeley Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, 10 AM at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Madrid. Burial with full military honors will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-7 pm at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames, with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7 pm.

Bud was born November 27, 1920 at High Bridge, Iowa, a small coal mining town south of Madrid. He was the son of Ulysses and Stella Adani Corieri. Bud served in the US Navy as a radioman in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He married Retha Santi on August 23, 1952 and they were blessed with four children.

Bud was an entrepreneur at heart. He sold
televisions in Madrid and repaired televisions in their early years, was an International Harvester dealer in Pleasantville, IA and was a restaurateur in Ames where he owned the Safari and was notorious for making pizzas on Main Street. Bud opened the first bar in Campustown, The Cave Inn. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

Bud is survived by his wife of 60 years, Retha, of Ames; children, Kimberly (John) Boeke of Ankeny, Rosalind (William) Paige of Abbeville, SC, Leslie (Diane) Corieri of Phoenix, AZ and Kelly (Andrew) White of Urbandale; 8 grandchildren and a great-grandson. Bud was preceded in death by his sisters, Rose Tripp and Mary Janovick.
