Elsie "Geri" Littrel
February 09, 1937 - December 29, 2012

Elsie Geraldine "Geri" Littrel, 75, of Ames, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Geri was born February 9, 1937, in Story County to Lyle and Lota (Link) Luing. She graduated from Collins High School and the Marshalltown School of Beauty. Elsie enjoyed bingo, knitting, crocheting, playing cards and being with family.

Geri is survived by her children: Deborah (Ronald) Yakel of Nevada, Frank Hoy, II, of Des Moines, Shirley Edwards of Ames, Darla Tjelmeland of Story City, Shawn (Dale) Hollaway of Leander, Texas, Lonnie Hogeland, Sr., of Marshalltown; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters: Georgina (Sherman) Stole of Ostrander, Minnesota, and Virginia (Clarence) Mitchell of Nevada.

Geri was preceded in death by her parents: Lyle and Lota Luing; her husband: Thomas Littrel; a son, Donald Shepherd; 2 grandchildren: Amy Hoy, Lonnie Hogeland, Jr.; 1 sister: Betty Post; 2 brothers: Lyle "Bill" Luing, Norman Luing; and her dear friend: Robert Ratliff.

A special Thank-you to the staff at Israel Hospice House for the care and compassion that they showed during this difficult time.

Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 AM Thursday and continue to the beginning of the Memorial Service.

Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Inurnment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marshalltown.

Memorials may be made to the Israel Family Hospice House, 400 South Dakota, Ames, IA 50014.

The Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is handling arrangements.
