Olin Arthur
November 14, 1920 - December 27, 2012Olin Ralph Arthur, 92, of Roland, IA, died Dec. 27, 2012, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
Olin was born in Webster Springs, West Virginia on Nov. 14, 1920, to the late David S. Arthur and Cordia Belvia Davis.
Olin and Betty lived in Roland for 29 years. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) in the early 1940’s. He retired after 35 years at the Timken Co. of Columbus, Ohio. Northridge High School, Johnstown, Ohio employed him for years as a Maintenance Custodian. Moving to Roland, he opened a small-engine repair shop. The Salem Lutheran Church listed him as a long time member. He was known as an honest and hardworking family man. He will be greatly missed by all.
Olin is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Lorene (Lawson); his three children: Sharon (David Moore), Margaret (Bob Zenn), John (Jackie Raska) Arthur; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren; his siblings: Mabel Jane (Elmer Gregory), Hazel Louise (Roy Cutlip), David Glenn, and George Daniel (Martha Haymond) Arthur.
He was preceded in death by siblings: Winifred Virginia (Jones), William Eugene, Billie (Ralph Butcher), Opal Gray, and great-grandson, Eric Gregory Richards.
Olin has been cremated and no immediate services are planned.
