Ron Vickre, age 70, died on Friday, January 18, 2013 in his apartment in McCallsburg, IA.
Ronald Kent Vickre was born on October 22, 1942 in Story City, IA. He was the only child of Arnold and Lois (Linn) Vickre.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church by Perry Heller.
Ron received his education by attending country school and graduated from Radcliffe High School in 1960. Following graduation, he attended barber college in Des Moines and was an apprentice at the barber shop in Story City. Later, he worked as a delivery person for Culligan and Beran Lumber Company.
On December 30, 1966, he was married to Judy Bray of Alden. Two children were born, Kent in 1967 and Kim in 1969. Ron farmed the Vickre family home place.
Ron spent the last 32 years with his present wife Dixie Gage. They have lived in McCallsburg since 1998.
He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Ron passed away on Friday, January 18, 2013 at his apartment in McCallsburg, IA.
Those thankful for having shared his life include his wife Dixie of McCallsburg; two children from his first marriage Kent of Ames and Kim of Story City; Dixie’s two children Tina Jacobson of McCallsburg and James Gage of McCallsburg; two grandchildren Chelsie Jacobson of Boone and Bryce Jacobson of Colo; his mother Lois Vickre of Story City; along with many other relatives and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his father Arnold.
