Donald "Don" Yazel, 71, of Maxwell, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at his home in Maxwell.

Don was born August 3, 1941, in Rural Des Moines to Clyde and Elsie (Cox) Yazel. He graduated from Bondurant-Farrar High School in 1959, and then joined the United States Air Force, serving four years until his honorable discharge in 1963. On May 27, 1994, Don married Estella "Teddy" Borrall in Colfax. He had worked for Prairie Meadows as a maintenance supervisor, retiring after 10 years.

Don enjoyed golfing, fishing, woodworking and gardening.

Don is survived by his wife Teddy of Maxwell; his daughters, Kimberley Kay (Scott) Droessler of Cedar Rapids, Darla Charlene Yazel of Belle Plaine, IA, and Denise Caye Yazel of Mitchellville; his step-children, Matthew Lee (Melissa) Todd of Newton, Melissa Ann (Troy) Martin of Mesa, AZ, and Roselle Beverley (Troy) Lillo of Newton; his brother, Phillip Eugene (Joyce) Yazel of Mission, TX; eight grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one step-great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell with funeral services following at 4 p.m. Cremation will follow the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Maxwell Fire Department in loving memory of Don.
