Dean O. Titus

BORN: July 17, 1936
DIED: November 22, 2012
LOCATION: Story City, Iowa

Dean Titus, 76, of Story City, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012, at Mercy Hospital Cardiac ICU in Des Moines, after battling with heart disease. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 27th, from 5 to 7 pm at the Soderstrum Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City, Wednesday, November 28th with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will be at the Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City.

Dean was born July 17, 1936 in Albert City, Iowa to Wayne and Irene (Johnson) Titus. He was a twin with brother, DeWayne. He graduated from Mallard High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. 1956 to 1958 – Active and until 1962 in the Reserves. He married Lorraine Carr in Perry and had children: Gary, Dorene, Faith Ann and Connie. The couple later divorced.

Dean owned and operated a landscaping tree service for 20 years in Marshalltown, Iowa and during that time was a bold witness to tell of the saving power of Jesus Christ. He earned his associate degree at Marshalltown Community College in 1976. In 1980, Dean married LaVon Larson Lovig and added two stepdaughters: Lisa and Kathy. In 1983, God called Dean into the healing evangelistic ministry. He was licensed and ordained through Faith Christian Fellowship Int'l. Tulsa, OK, since 1987. He sold the business and went to "work for the Lord". He established the "Upper Room Ministry" in Story City and later Faith Christian Center in 1989 where he was pastor until 2011. He continued as President of the Dean Titus Ministry, Inc. and as pastor/evangelist until his death. He was pastor advisor for Ames Women's Aglow and a member of the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship and board member to Light to the World Ministries.

Survived by his second wife, LaVon; his children, Gary Titus, Dorene Titus, Connie (Leslie) Elliott and step daughters Lisa (Scott) Schaefer and Kathy (Sam) Hughes; 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and a sister Rosemary Jacob as well as numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers DeWayne, Dale and Dennis and a daughter, Faith Ann Dunn.
