From Nevada Representative October 4, 1882

DIED.

Sunday morning, Oct. 15, at the residence of Mr. R. J. Silliman in this city Mrs. Alfred Newman, stepmother of Mrs. Silliman, aged nearly seventy years.

Mrs. Newman was in delicate health when with her husband she came to Nevada on a visit in September. The warm welcome and affectionate care grateful to all, a doubly so to the sick and aged, made the daughter's home a haven and decided the parents to remain through the winter. In response to the demands of business Mr. Newman on Tuesday of last week went back to their old home in Sterling, Illinois, and delay in the delivery of a telegram sent Saturday to apprise him of the suddenly alarming phase of his wife's illness prevented his return to her bedside. Sunday the wires carried him tidings of her death, and Sunday night Mr. Silliman took the precious remains back to the bereaved, waiting husband for burial near the desolate home in Sterling.
