From Chet Ryan Mortuary obituary, Nevada, Story County, Iowa:

Nesjie Ruby Calvert, 87 of Nevada died on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the Story County Senior Care in Nevada. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 20 at the First United Methodist Church, 1036 7th Street in Nevada with Deacon Brenda Hobson officiating. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the Bellefountaine Cemetery in Tracy, Iowa.

Nesjie was born on October 4, 1925 in Marion County to Gerrit G. and Aaltjie (Schakel) Messamaker. She was a 1942 graduate of Tracy High School. On October 14, 1945, Nesjie married Ai George Calvert in Tracy. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, P.E.O., and was a charter member of the Friends of the Nevada Public Library. Nesjie was the prayer chain coordinator also at the church. She enjoyed playing bridge, quilting, and was an avid reader.
Nesjie is survived by two daughters, Marsha Marie (Dave) Meyer of Nevada and Georgia Jean (Tom) Parham, Sr. of Ames; three grandchildren Emily (Jay) Evans, Heather (Mike) Miano, and Thomas (Alexandra) Parham, Jr.; one great grandchild Thomas Michael Parham; three step-grandchildren, Chad Evans, Kelsey Evans, and Lauren Evans. Nesjie will be missed by many relatives and friends.

Nesjie was preceded in death her husband George on November 16, 1999, her parents, mother-in-law Essa L. Calvert, a sister Cornelia "Faye" Higgins, three brothers Wilhelm, Raymond, and Glen Messamaker.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 19 with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth Street in Nevada.

A memorial fund has been established in loving memory of Nesjie for the First United Methodist Church or the Nevada Public Library.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Nesjie and her family.
