DIED: September 20, 2012
LOCATION: Ames, Iowa

Dawn Sharon Heidel (Hargraves), 60, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2012 from kidney cancer. Dawn was born on April 25, 1952 to and predeceased by David and Anna Hargraves and raised in Rockford, Illinois. She graduated from Rockford Guilford High School in 1970 and attended Rock Valley College, Rockford, Illinois.

She was married to her high school sweetheart Jeff Heidel on September 12, 1975. She had a natural attraction for friendships with everyone she met from schools, coworkers, and a life time of loyal retail customers from retail establishments which included Beef -a-Roo, Bostwicks, Owens, Sylvia's Fashions, H.C. Pranges, Bergners, Younkers, Mays of Michigan, and Bloomingdales.

Dawn is survived by her husband Jeff; her two children, Heather Heidel (Malovrh) of Ames, Iowa and Ryan Heidel of Traverse City, Michigan; her grandson Jordan Malovrh; her brother Douglas Hargraves his wife Martha and nieces Ana and Mia.

Dawn will be remembered for the goodness and love she portrayed and her beauty, inside and out. She touched the hearts of many through her active volunteering with Special Olympics, Girl Scouts, and various school activities. In her later years, she enjoyed hiking, gardening, reading, and playing with her grandson.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday 22, 2012 at Adams Funeral Home, 502 Douglas Avenue, Ames, Iowa. Post memorial gathering for relatives to follow immediately at Olde Main Brewing Company, 316 Main Street, Ames, Iowa.

Memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics and the American Cancer Society in her memory.
