Marlene Piel, 76, of Creston passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 31, 2012. Funeral Services were held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston. The Rev. Thomas Woodin officiated Interment was at the Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Memorials will be established. Marlene Beverly (Fosse) Piel, the daughter of Alfred and Clarice Marguerite (Peterson) Fosse was born December 14, 1935, in Garden City, Iowa. She graduated high school in Roland, Iowa with the Class of 1953. After graduation she spent a year working in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Marlene then returned home where she met and married her life-long partner, Ron Piel, on June 21, 1957. Marlene and Ron were blessed with four children: Rick (wife Jeanne) Piel of Creston; Rhonda Campbell of Creston; Terri (husband Doug) White of Rockland, Wisconsin; and Diana (husband Phil) Price of Creston.

In her lifetime, Marlene has worked in Ames, Iowa, at the Mutual Benefit Insurance Company and for the City of Ames. She also has worked for the Creston Medical Clinic, First National Bank and Walmart in Creston.

Marlene was once a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She is a member of the Hospital Volunteer Services in Creston, Lakeshore Golf and Country Club, and several card clubs. Marlene truly enjoyed her family and the "get together's" will be fond memories. In her younger years she truly enjoyed dancing. She loved to play cards and put together puzzles. She looked forward to her monthly outing with school classmates and FNB co-workers.

Left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory with Ron and her four children are her eight grandchildren: Chris Piel (special friend Jason Hoke), Kansas City, Missouri; Casee (husband Ben) Veren, Marshalltown, Iowa; Regan Campbell (special friend Liz Bourland), Olathe, Kansas; Jessi White (special friend Matt Herrmann), Holmen, Wisconsin; Erica (husband Ben) Clear, Afton, Iowa; Jacob White (special friend Samantha Brueggen), Rockland, Wisconsin; Jeremiah White (special friend Victoria Hamilton), Rockland, Wisconsin; and Danielle Price, Creston; her three great-grandchildren: Cooper and Conner Veren and Caden Clear; three step-granddaughters; and nine step-great-grandchildren; her brother: Ron (wife Betty) Fosse of Ames; her sister-in-law: Ardis Skartvedt of Radcliffe, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding Marlene in death were her parents; her two brothers, Hollis and Bob Fosse; her niece, MaryJo Thorn; and her brother-in-law, Murrel Skartvedt.
