Joseph Hill, age 81, of Radcliffe, Iowa, died on Friday, October 14, 2011 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 17, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Radcliffe. Joe will be buried at Radcliffe Cemetery.

Visitation was held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Radcliffe Sunday, October 16, 2011 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.

Joseph Clifford Hill, Jr. was born on October 16, 1929 in McCallsburg, Iowa to Joseph C. Hill, Sr. and Ada (Sorenson) Hill. He was baptized and confirmed in the Salem Lutheran Church in Roland.

He went into the service in 1950 and he was in the Air National Guard 132nd Medical Group during the Korean Wan He reported to Bangor, Maine on April 1, 1951, at the DOW AFB for 14 months: he was airman second class. He was stationed in Alexander, Louisiana, for five months, then he was discharged on December 27, 1953.

He married Lenora Marilyn (Anderson) on August 28, 1954 at the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, Iowa. They lived and farmed south of Ames for five years and then moved north of Roland for 14 years until he retired from farming in 1974. They moved to Radcliffe until his death.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting and always had a big garden that he shared with his family and friends. Comart was a favorite stop and they treated him like a king.

His family was very important to him. He spent everyday at his son's house helping with the greyhounds. He loved to get together with_ his kids, grand children and great-grandchildren as often as he could. He had a very generous heart and was a friend to all.

Those left to mourn his memories are his wife Marilyn; six children, Mike (Gloria) Hill of Roland, Deb (Ran) Dubberke of Hubbard, Al (Lori) Hill, Laurie (Rick) Reisetter, Julie "Tootse" (Jeff) Fudge of Radcliffe, and Becky (Jim) Dose of Boone; 16 grandchildren, Tammy (Brandon) Hansen, Joe Hill, Ben Topp, Nathan (Kristin) Topp, Jason (Haley) Topp, Lauren Dubberke, Amy Jo Hill, Eric (Tara) Hill, Jake (Christina) Hill, Holly (Jeremy) Eide, Auston Reisetter (Jamie), Trenton Reisetter, Jared Fudge, Tyler (Shannon) Dose, Ashley Dose (Ken), Dana Dose and eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jake Hill of Loveland, Colorado and Dean (Marilyn) Hill of McCallsburg; six sisters, Geneva (Morris) Vansickle of Nevada, Joan Egland of Ames, Pauline Johnson of Nevada, Lucy Hopkins of Houston, Texas, Linda (Mike) Halbach of Champaign, Illinois, and Judy Klein of Story City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Wayne Hill, a sister Shirley Kingsbury, and two brothers-in-law Stan Egland and Mark Johnson.
