Charles Alton Bane of Fort Collins passed away on Oct. 6, 2011. A visitation was held on Monday, Oct. 10, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Ralston, Nebraska, which included a Masonic Rite Service. A memorial service was held Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church. Inurnment will be October 12, 2011 in Roland, Iowa.
He was born Dec. 18, 1923 in Pitcher, Oklahoma to Charles and Hazel Lewis. He graduated from Wesport High School in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from the University of Omaha with a degree in business. Charles previously resided in Ralston and Grand Island, Nebraska.
He married Lois Christian on August 17, 1947 at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland, Iowa and to this union three children were born. Charles served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was the recipient of two bronze stars and one silver star for valor.
Charles was employed by the Carpenter Paper Company for 39 years, where he was a manager.
Charles was active in the Messiah Lutheran Church in Ralston, Nebraska. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason.
Charles' favorite hobby was photography and he enjoyed spending time behind the lens of his camera capturing many beautiful photographs.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved them very much.
Charles is survived by his wife, Lois; Sons, Steven C. (Mary Sue) Bane, Scottsdale, Arizona; Craig A. (Deanna) Bane, Apple Valley, Minnesota; daughter, Debrah E. (David) Farrand, Washington, DC.; sister, Barbara Kistler, Omaha, Nebraska grandchildren, Christopher (Sara) Bane; Cynthia (Damon) Gage, Catherine (John) Helwic, Stuart Farrand; Sarah Bane, Christian Bane, Alexandra Bane. Great-grandchildren, Kelsey Gage, Makayla Gage, Zoe Bane, Jacqueline Helwic; nephew, William (Debbie) Kistler; niece, Chery (Rob) Marshall.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church in Ralston, Nebraska.
