Lawrence E. Willson
January 11, 1925 - January 27, 2011

Lawrence E. "Chuck" Willson, 86 of Nevada died on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 31 at the First United Methodist Church, 1036 7th Street in Nevada with Pastor Kevin Leveck officiating.

Lawrence was born on January 11, 1925 in Mapleton, IA to Leslie E. and Maurine (Caldwell) Willson. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II. On August 15, 1947, "Chuck" married Mary Virginia Muckey in Sioux City. He was a self-employed bricklayer. "Chuck" was a member of the First United Methodist Church, William F. Ball American Legion Post #48, and a 50 year Gold Card member of the Bricklayer's Union. He enjoyed being with his family, woodworking, and doing puzzles.

"Chuck" is survived by his wife Mary; 3 sons, Rod (Roxanna) Willson of Des Moines, Jim Willson of Alpine, TX and Gail (Susan) Willson of Los Angeles, CA; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Patty Jean Persell on September 22, 2007, granddaughter Carmon Willson, 2 brothers Gerald Willson, Jerry Willson and sister Vivian Peterson.

Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in memory of Lawrence.
Service:

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 31 at the First United Methodist Church, 1036 7th Street in Nevada with Pastor Kevin Leveck officiating.

Cemetery:

Burial of the cremains will be held later in the spring at the Evergreen Memory Gardens in rural Nevada.
